School of Coding & AI, a company teaching computer coding and artificial intelligence, has been named Business of the Year at Birmingham’s Signature Awards, which celebrate outstanding local businesses.
Founded by Manny Athwal, SOC provides training for individuals, companies, and public sector organisations. In the past year, the school opened a £2.5m tech lab in Birmingham, redeveloped its Wolverhampton headquarters, and launched an international campus in Dubai.
Athwal described the award as a “great honour” and a milestone for the firm:
"We started with a mission to reshape digital education and create genuine pathways into tech careers, and this recognition shows the real-world impact we are making. We are growing as a global business but we are immensely proud of our Midlands roots, so receiving this award in Birmingham is a great honour."
In early 2025, SOC opened a city centre campus in partnership with the University of Wolverhampton, offering courses in computer science, business management, and health and social care, integrating AI across the curriculum.
The award highlights SOC’s rapid expansion and its impact on digital education both locally and internationally.
